What Has To Be...
The weekend before this year's G7 summit in Cornwall we collaborated with #LetterstotheEarth and #WeGlimpse on a pilot project conceived to link the G7 meeting in Carbis Bay to the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.
Through conversations on the street and the workshops we wanted to find out what local people felt needed to be said. Working together, we distilled their words and transformed them into light sculptures. These words and the people that made them offer a portrait of this small community during this extraordinary global event. They want to be heard.
One participant, Anne, proudly installed Saturday's creation: TO BE HEARD, in her garden on the main road through the town where it will be highly visible from now until the end of G7.
MORE HUMAN, created on the Sunday, was installed by workshop participant Rupert on the main road through Carbis Bay, 75m from Tregenna Castle hotel where the G7 delegates were staying. They drove past these illuminated words everyday on their way to the conference centre at the Carbis Bay Hotel.
This pilot was made possible with support of The Box, Plymouth
